Dear Sir/ Madam, I'm writing to express my concerns about Globe Australia's sale of rat and mouse glue traps. Glue traps are without a doubt one of the cruellest pest control devices on the market and are opposed by many animal protection groups including the RSPCA on the grounds of cruelty. These ghastly devices consist of a plastic, cardboard or fibreboard tray with a silicone adhesive coating which is designed to catch and hold rats and mice. Animals caught on these traps often suffer for days before dying of starvation, dehydration and shock. Some animals resort to self mutilation and chewing off their limbs in a desperate attempt to escape. Mice, rats and other small animals have the capacity to feel pain, fear and other emotions in a similar way to humans. Because of the cruelty associated with glue traps, I kindly ask you to consider if it’s worth selling and/or marketing such a callous device. Furthermore, I pray that you will discontinue the sale of rodent glue traps. There are humane alternatives to controlling rodent problems including natural repellents, modifying areas to prevent access by rodents and smart mouse traps which if used correctly allows the person to safely relocate the animal with minimal fuss.
